Religious / Christian Marriage Ceremony at Gretna Green Scotland
Many of us do not attend church on a regular basis but we have been brought up in a Christian household with Christian beliefs. Our Christian marriage ceremony is very moving and is treated with the respect it deserves. It is also very informal - something to remember and reflect on for the rest of your lives. The christian marriage ceremony is performed at the Anvil by a clergyman.
Bringing or choosing a Minister
We welcome any Minister who is legally licensed to perform your Christian marriage ceremony. Alternatively you can contact us and we will put you in touch with the Ministers that come here regularly.
Paying a Minister
We cannot give advice on payments to Ministers or Churches. You must arrange that between yourself and the Minister.
Personalising the Service
Any enquiries concerning the style of the Christian marriage ceremony, wording or re-marriage should be referred to the Minister.
IMPORTANT Official Requirements for a Religious Ceremony
For Christian ceremonies the Marriage Schedule, made up from the information you have given on the M10 form must be collected by either the Bride or the Groom in person on the morning of the wedding or up to seven days before from the Gretna Registration Office (which is closed on Sundays and Mondays and some Bank Holidays). The Minister must have these documents before the marriage ceremony can begin. You must return these signed documents to the Gretna Registration Office within three days.
